Yellowstone National Park
Hi y’all!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I wanted to share more details from our day trip to Yellowstone. We woke up early Tuesday morning and headed to Yellowstone in our 12 person church van. 😆 When we got to the gates we got asked if we were a tour bus or just a family if that tells you anything! Lol!
We entered Yellowstone at the West entrance, since we were coming down from Montana.
We started out at the Fountain Paint Pots. I had never seen anything like this before! It felt like we were on another planet… so strange!
Next, we headed to the Grand Prismatic Spring at Midway Geyser Basin. This was another spot that was just mind-blowing! We hiked Artist Point to see the views from above and it was so worth it! 🙌🏻
Then, we headed to Old Faithful and it did not disappoint! We were all so in awe!
After watching Old Faithful for quite some time, we headed for a picnic in the park. I would recommend bringing a picnic with you! After lunch, we started back driving and passed some beautiful sites that we just had to stop at!
We drove by Yellowstone Lake and just had to jump out for a picture! The water was so beautiful!
Our next stop was one I was so excited for! The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone! The waterfall was stunning!
Our final stop was Mammoth Springs. Again, just lots of unusual sights that were so cool to see!
We were headed back to Big Sky and a little sad we didn’t see a bear… until we drove up and spotted 2 outside our van. We immediately got out our binoculars and got so excited! When we spotted them they were far out, close to the woods. We spent a while all getting a good look at them and everyone was so excited! We finally got back in the van and were about to head out, then someone screamed the bear was running in front of our van! Samuel was driving and wanted to speed away (which was probably the smart thing to do). The two bears were now across the road a good distance, but at the perfect spot to see them better. We open the van door and grab the binoculars again. The two bears are staring at us the whole time. Of course with 2 babies we were not being quiet. One of the bears stood up and started charging the van. We all screamed and Samuel sped away as fast as he could. I managed to slam the van door and we made it out of there. Our hearts were beating so fast!! It made for a crazy memory, but I don’t think I would recommend opening your van door with two bears staring at you!!
We had an amazing day exploring Yellowstone and for sure left with lots of memories! Thankful we are all safe!
Much love,
SKP
